John's career includes 28 years in the technology industry, including executive management roles in large public corporations such as BMC Software and Ingres Corporation. He also founded or participated in several entrepreneurial startups in Silicon Valley during the 1980's. His M&A experience covers both sides of the buy-sell divide, including driving corporate growth through multi-million dollar strategic alliances, completing acquisitions and divestitures of corporate assets, structuring creative buyouts, raising equity financing, and negotiating complex technology deals.

John's corporate background lends itself to solving issues and maximizing opportunities. The several years he spent in marketing roles underpins the analysis and synthesis required to sell a company's potential to others. Stints as CEO and General Manager have given him a keen insight into the pressures of business ownership. His high energy level and down-to-earth style enables him to manage the diverse players involved in each M&A deal. A native of England, he has long lived in the San Francisco area. When not ineffectually hacking at a golf ball he likes to sail, taste wines and travel.

Ron has over 20 years experience in corporate investment and M&A, focused on small and mid-market businesses. He is also the Principal of the Allen Business Group, of which Onyx Associates is part. Since 1990 Ron has participated in, or personally completed, hundreds of M&A transactions.

He served for ten years on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Business Brokers (CABB), served two terms as President, chaired the Education Committee and presently chairs the Governmental Affairs Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA), and on the Education Committee. He is a graduate of Long Beach State University, with a degree in mathematics. Ron is an avid Hiker, Fisherman and Scout Leader and lives in San Ramon, California with his wife, Shirley.
